“Books are man best friend” indeed this is true. No matter how much digitalized the world become there is something in the physical books, perhaps the smell of the pages or the touch it gives. We read thousands of books in the span of our whole life but there are just a few stories that get ingrained in our mind. We carry the stories with us throughout our lives the reason may be because they inspire us or keep us motivated. There are few books that I recommend every college student to read which can assist them in to gain a new perspective on the things and people around them. The book was written in 1996, a wonderful cautionary tale. It is a story about a spoiled brat named Chris McCandless who’s has been brought up in a well-to-do family by giving him all the life essentials but fails to give him the basic clear concept of reality. A young boy, who escapes from this life because of discontent to experience the living on his own in the United States, where his journey brings him to Alaska and how he dies. 3. THE KITE RUNNER by KHALED HOSSEINI
This book was published in the year 2003 to give people the simple picture of life without any embellishment. The plot constructed is phenomenal that discusses the tragedy that strikes the friendship of two friends and the struggles they go through. It studies the actions taken by the characters relates to the real-life scenarios, one individual’s attitude towards life and the people dear to him. The book discusses the story of a boy named Jonas who lives in a society that has gotten rid of all the emotions and negative aspects of the society to avoid the mistake caused by their ancestors. The boy is then assigned with responsibilities where he gets to see that life is far different than he used to believe. It shows the path that every student has to go, the process of growing up, taking new responsibilities and the contribution one makes towards the society. It shows that each and everyone has a choice of what we want and where one finds happiness.
5. THINKING, FAST AND SLOW by DANIEL KAHNEMAN
The author of this book explores the way we think. Published in 2011, this book discusses the benefits of slow, rational and deliberate thinking requires for individuals to succeed in their life both professional and personal. Daniel Kahneman demonstrates us how these mental glitches can block and eliminate our chances of growth and success as well as tells us how thoughtful decisions can play an impactful role in it. It is a rich book that provides astonishing insights of intellectual surprise and self-help value.
